Colossians 3:16-17
Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly
as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom
And as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs
with gratitude in your hearts to God
And whatever you do, whether in word or deed,
do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus
giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

Discussion: a) Part of the importance of memorizing Scripture is to reach this goal of God’s Word dwelling in our minds & hearts.
b) I think it is interesting that Paul decides to encourage people to sing in 3 different ways, recognizing that singing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs can be very different. I can imagine that singing Psalm 23, then “On the Old Rugged Cross” followed by “Open the Eyes of My Heart” just speak differently to our minds & hearts.
c) Whatever you do … work, play, worship, watch movies, exercise, talk, go on vacation, etc … ALL in the name of Jesus!
